Strongly shaped by its interdisciplinarity and by profound contemporary societal transformations—whether related to methodological considerations, gender issues, or technological upheavals—Translation Studies is nowadays confronted with major reconfigurations of both its objects of study and its practices. The recent rise of artificial intelligence has notably revived and further complexified questions surrounding the notion of creativity, from ethical, economic, and artistic perspectives alike. Although various sub-fields of Translation Studies have engaged with this concept, their work paradoxically remains largely compartmentalised. Yet creativity has been examined from a Translation Studies perspective across a wide range of media contexts and through multiple lenses, including technological, ethical, didactic, and methodological approaches. Fields such as video game localisation, audiovisual translation, literary translation, marketing translation, and certain approaches within the humanities have thus addressed this issue, while largely remaining confined within their own media-specific and disciplinary frameworks. This conference aims to foster cross-cutting dialogue among these different sub-fields around the question of creativity in translation. It therefore seeks to encourage an opening of perspectives and to stimulate exchanges in the hope of renewing theoretical and methodological approaches within a resolutely interdisciplinary framework.

In line with the aims of the conference, these key topics are outlined with the hope of opening up new interdisciplinary pathways into creative translation, without any claim to exhaustiveness:
